Now I thought it would be easier to do the new collection of CdR in little double hits – I feel that a lot of their collection is pretty much the same. The only difference would be deniers, patterns and potentially the fit.
I have to say before I begin that CdR sent me the thicker deniers in a LARGE size – yes I said large. I have no idea why, but that’s what I got and that is what I shall review! I am just as shocked as you might be reading this, but let’s see how we get on!

|Selva is among Cecilia de Rafael’s most classic and timeless items, but it is also an inventive number too, as much of their fashion tends to be. The twist comes from the way they’ve present us with this classic floral. It has been made with a kind of faux-crochet or cross stitch look. Most fashion tights add flowers using print or lace, but here it is thanks to a more traditional and quaint method. It gives them a homely and cheerful look and is very different and unique too.* 50 denier

|Brocatelle is a stunning design and one of those pieces you can write volumes about. The best way to summarize it is to say that it combines some of the most stunning motifs and elements from traditional interior design. Moorish motifs, arabesque patterns and paisley elements, all of which would have been popular in Cecilia de Rafael’s native Spain for centuries when it was occupied by the Moors. And if the beauty, colour and historical elements weren’t enough, it is designed by Ulises Merida, a fantastically talented designer that Cecilia de Rafael has partnered with to add something new and unique to their fashion range.

The Packaging: so as these came straight from CdR, these didn’t have any of the outer packaging to them. They simply came as they are pictured below! I was pretty amazed as I thought they were previous seasons, until I realised it’s their current collection!
So as you can see from the slideshow below, these were packed pretty much the same as one another, with the subtle foot and leg shaping to it. The only difference I noticed was the Brocatelle was longer in length than the Selva so I was praying at this stage that they will fit me ok!
Getting Them On: oh my gosh! I cannot tell you how stunned I am these fit me. This does make me wonder what the sizing difference is with CdR now if a large can fit me exactly like a small does. I was seriously amazed!
I didn’t use hosiery gloves popping these on as I wanted to test them out, and I gotta say these are so smooth and soft, both inside and out – HEAVEN!!!
On The Legs: oh wow! They both seriously stand out in their own way here! The Selva is just this gorgeous feminine floral design (quite bold) with the Brocatelle a little more toned down yet standing out with that side strip.
The Selva: the denier on these are 10 thinner than the Brocatelle, but the quality is great. They last all day which I love with no issues whatsoever.
The fit of them are just amazing – I still can’t believe that a large is near enough identical to a small size. The perks of this is that I have enough elasticity in these for them to hug the legs so well and the denier would be a lot denser than stretched on a small.
The floral design is absolutely gorgeous; it’s so playful, bold and something that can really make an outfit pop. I would normally wear it with something plain, but actually against other floral prints or symmetrical prints it would work really well.
The Brocatelle: now as the denier is thicker than Selva (being a 60) I found these to feel thinner for some reason. I have no idea why but they didn’t seem as chunky which I thought was unusual, but also explains the difference in length between them both. The quality of these are great; no issues in these at all!
The fit of these are once again amazing; I found them to hug the legs really well, they sat perfectly on the legs and no wrinkles found anywhere to indicate these are slightly big on me.
The design on these I find to be a little softer than the Selva, but still stand out in their own way. I mentioned before they have that paisley type strip going from the toes to the waistband, which makes these pretty unique and that subtle dotted effect really does look amazeballs.
I really do like these both, as they both stand out in their own ways.
The Toes & Ankle: the toes on both of these had plenty of wiggle room, both were soft and smooth around the feet and has a good amount of reinforcement to them as well.
Around the ankles, these sat completely flush with no signs of wrinkles which I was dead impressed with. I thought with these both being large, they would be falling down the legs and gathering here, but no signs of that!
The Waistband: now the bands on these are pretty good. I thought being large, it’s gonna be big. be loose on me, start to fall down during the day etc.
But what I did find was that these sat in the same place the whole day with no signs of them slipping down the legs after a day’s wear.
The band itself is super soft and they don’t roll over either which I really like. They hold up so well!
I am so surprised with these it’s unreal! But I do like the fact that bigger sizes in CdR work for me so if I can’t ever get hold of a small, I know I can count on the next size (or two) up 🙂
The denier, fit and feel of them both are really amazing; they are so soft and smooth on the legs, and they look amazing.
